レム睡眠の際には眼球が素早く動いているだけでなく、勃起も起こっています。つまり、男性は、９０分周期のレム睡眠の際には勃起をしているということです。朝、目覚ましをかけなかったとしたので、ノンレム睡眠の深い睡眠から目覚めるわけではなく、必ずレム睡眠の浅い眠りと通って目覚めます。目覚めた時に、勃起しているので、朝勃ちというようになったということです。
なぜ朝立ちするのか
なぜ、朝勃ちするのかということは、正確に理由がわかっているわけではありませんが、体のメンテナンス機能だと考えられます。筋肉や関節も、使わないでおくと機能が低下してしまうように、ペニスも勃起しないと機能が低下してしまう可能性が考えられます。
